Florists, Farmers, and Wholesalers—If Your Brand Isn’t Working For You, It’s Time To Change That. Here’s Where To Start…

If you’re growing, designing, or selling flowers, you already know how powerful they are. Flowers have an incredible way of making people feel something, whether it’s joy, nostalgia, sympathy, or connection. However, if your business isn’t getting the attention it deserves, or if the right people aren’t finding you, your brand might not be doing its job.

Branding isn’t just about a nice logo or a cohesive Instagram grid (though those help). It’s about making your business easy to recognize, easy to remember, and impossible to ignore. So, if you’ve been relying on word-of-mouth or posting whatever feels right in the moment, let’s talk about a few ways to make your floral business stand out.

Know Who You’re Selling To

Not all floral businesses are the same. A wedding florist has different customers than a flower farmer at a market, or a wholesaler distributing to designers. All these three business models are unique and have different audiences that are going to expect different things. The more specific you get about who you’re selling to, the easier it is to attract them.

Think about:

  • What do they really care about? Is it sustainability, good value or uniqueness? Maybe it’s frequent communication before their big day? Dig deep into what matters to your audience.

  • Where do they shop for flowers? If your audience shops at high-end floral boutiques, your brand should reflect elegance, exclusivity, and premium pricing. If your audience buys from local farmers’ markets, your branding should emphasize freshness, sustainability, and community connection.

  • What kind of experience are they looking for? People don’t just buy flowers—they buy a feeling, a moment, or an experience. If you don’t quite understand the experience your customers expect, you risk creating a brand that doesn’t connect.

If you try to appeal to everyone, you’ll blend in. A strong brand speaks directly to the right people so they instantly feel like your business is meant for them.

Define What Makes You Different

Let’s be honest, there are a lot of floral businesses out there, So why should someone choose you?

Maybe it’s your focus on unique, heirloom varieties. Maybe it’s your artistic, avante-guard designs. Maybe it’s your commitment to local, seasonal blooms. Whatever it is, make sure it’s clear and consistent in everything you do

A great brand leans into what makes it special. If your customers don’t know why they should choose you, chances are, they won’t. If you’re feeling stuck, I’ve made several Instagram posts with brainstorming prompts to get you started!

Look the Part

People see your brand before they ever buy from you. If your visuals are all over the place, one day soft and romantic, the next day modern and bold, it confuses your audience. Your business should have the same look and feel across all touch points. That means your website, proposals, pricing/order sheets, packaging and social media should all feel like you.

That means using:

  • The same colours and fonts everywhere (not just on your website).

  • Photos that match your aesthetic and the feeling you want to create.

  • A logo and design style that actually reflects the quality of your work.

If you want customers to trust you, your business needs to look polished and professional—without feeling stiff or impersonal.

Say It Clearly

If you’ve ever struggled to explain what you do, your customers are struggling too. A strong brand isn’t just pretty—it’s clear.

Instead of saying:

❌ “I grow flowers for special occasions.”

Try:

✅ “I grow heirloom blooms for flower lovers who want something more unique than a grocery store bouquet.”

Instead of:

❌ “I design flowers for weddings.”

Try:

✅ “I create garden-inspired wedding flowers for couples who want their florals to feel natural, lush, and effortless.”

When people instantly get what you do and who it’s for, they’re more likely to feel a connection and purchase.

Show Up with Confidence

Your brand isn’t just your logo or website—it’s how you show up online, in person, and in your customer’s inbox. If your website feels outdated, your Instagram is inconsistent, or your pricing guide looks thrown together, it’s time for a refresh.

A polished, consistent brand:

✔ Makes you look more professional (that doesn't mean feeling corporate!)

✔ Builds trust with customers who are ready to buy

✔ Helps you charge what you’re worth

Branding isn’t just about looking good—it’s about feeling confident in your business. And when you’re confident, customers notice.

Is Your Brand Helping or Hurting Your Business?

If you’re reading this and realizing your floral business doesn’t feel as clear, polished, or professional as you want it to, that’s okay. Branding is something every business refines over time and it can be hard to zoom out and see the bigger picture when you’re immersed in it every day.

The good news? You don’t have to figure it out alone. I help florists, flower farmers, sellers and floral wholesalers create brands that feel like them—so they can sell more flowers and grow their businesses with confidence while doing what they love.
